Program posture

Industrial robotics is reliability engineering with moving parts. A cell that runs impressive demos but stalls every twelve hours on unusual part geometry costs more in lost line time than the platform's purchase price. The useful number is mean time between operator interventions, measured over weeks in actual mixed production, not the cycle time of a scripted demo piece. Partners who cannot share that number for a comparable cell are asking you to be their beta site.

Enterprise integration is the other place programs stall. Robot cells do not live alone. They feed WMS, MES, ERP, and quality systems, and they have to do so through upgrades, shift changes, and plant outages. Programs that defer integration to after commissioning spend the first year doing integration instead of producing parts. Integration architecture should be part of the procurement package.
